Bosmere Curriculum
Whole School Curriculum Intent
“Excellence through engaging, enjoyable learning”.
At Bosmere Community Primary School our curriculum is designed to inspire enthusiasm for learning and to ensure children achieve well, while nurturing pupils' health and mental well-being.
We aim to develop independent, creative and inquisitive learners who gain the confidence, resilience and skills needed to be learners for life and responsible citizens for the future.
Our inclusive curriculum focusses on progressive subject-specific knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum. It promotes high aspirations by engaging pupils in challenging, rich and memorable learning experiences.
KEy Stage 1 and 2 Long TERM PLANNING
We map our school curriculum to reflect the structure of our school.
That is to say, we plan for single age classes in Key Stage 1 and mixed age classes in Key Stage 2.
Therefore, as you can see when reading our Long Term Planning (below), units are taught on a two-year cycle in Key Stage 2 and an annual cycle in Key Stage 1.
INCLUSION
The planning and delivery of the curriculum may be personalised or adapted to meet individual needs. This could be through provision of additional scaffolding and support in the classroom, or sequencing learning differently.
High expectations are set for all children, and we aim to instil in them a love of learning and confidence as learners, encouraging them to embrace challenge and understand the fundamental importance of life-long resilience.
Early Years and KS1 Phonics and our library
The Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programme we have selected for our Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils is Little Wandle. We have been using Little Wandle since 2024-25.
We also use Little Wandle resources to support learners in Lower Key Stage 2.
We are in the process of updating and improving our school library. To assist with the management of the library, we are implementing Libresoft Librarian.
Children in Key Stage 2 routinely use the library to select their independent reading books, using Accelerated Reader.
